About Us Page
The SouthWest Electrical Training
Center was formed in 2004 to address the training needs of the electrical
industry in Arizona. Prior to its inception, electrical training was
available only through union affiliations, local trade associations, or employer’s
in-house programs. A few colleges and trade schools provided additional
educational resources, but none offered formalized or custom training programs
statewide.
The SouthWest Electrical Training
Center is considered an open-shop or merit shop training provider; servicing the
residential, commercial, and industrial electrical industry. No Trade
Association or Union membership is required. Our unique approach
to craft training, apprenticeship training, and internship training programs blends
electrical craft training, “soft-skills” training, and leadership training;
utilizing instructor-based and computer/internet-based training media.
Related training for apprenticeship programs are taught on a "fast-track"
format. Students attend classes for 3-months, are off for 1-month, then resume
another 3-month training session. Students will complete related training of a
traditional 4-year apprenticeship program in 2-years and 7-months! Many of our
students receive credit through local community colleges.
Now employers and students statewide can benefit from a state and federally
approved apprenticeship program, whether they live in Page, Yuma, Sierra Vista,
Lake Havasu City,
Flagstaff, Apache Junction, or the greater Phoenix or Tucson area. We are able to set up customized
electrical training programs where you work or live.
The following
Electrical Contractors have participated in our training programs this year:
Hyde Electric, Wilson Electric, Antelope Run Electric,
Castro Electric, Sierra Vista
Electric, Thunder Mountain Electric, Loma Electric, LectraServ, Corona Electric, Sylvain Electric, Earuss Electric, Yaqui
Electric, Sunstar Electric, Jim’s Electric Service, Force Electric, Desert
Horizon Electric, Cissell Electric, Blue Star Electric, and Overhead &
Underground Electric.
The SouthWest Electrical Training
Center is a registered apprenticeship program with the Bureau of Apprenticeship
and Training, and the
State of Arizona Commerce Department.
The SouthWest Electrical Training
Center is accredited by the
National Center for Construction, Education and Research (NCCER).
