Essential of Leadership, Part 2
Program Overview:
The SouthWest Electrical Training Center is pleased to offer the PRIMEDIA
Workplace Learning Essentials of Leadership Series. This
interactive, computer-based training program will help advanced craftsmen, foremen,
supervisors, and project managers to become effective leaders and managers.
This eight-topic (2-part) program
uses examples from typical on-the-job situations to solidify key concepts.
Topics range from the fundamentals of effective management—such as making the
transition from worker to supervisor, how to communicate clearly and make
sound decisions—to more complex issues, like managing work teams and maintaining
discipline.
Essentials of Leadership Program:
Part 2
(Prerequisite: Part 1)
The Team Advantage
Learn the reasons for using teams in the workplace and how to maximize their
effectiveness. Trainees will develop in-depth knowledge on when to use teams,
the roles and responsibilities of team members, and the dynamics of team
development.
Problem Solving
Trainees will familiarize themselves with a basic process that can be
utilized to solve almost any type of problem in the workplace. At the conclusion
of instruction, trainees will be able to define a problem and the goal for its
solution, and work their way through the basic problem solving process.
Decision Making
Making informed decisions and implementing them successfully on the job is
critical to being an effective supervisor. Through this program, trainees will
be able to cite items like common examples of poor decision-making and some
general types of decisions. Trainees will also learn how to build consensus
during the decision-making process and describe the steps for successfully
converting a decision into action.
Discipline
Preventing discipline problems and dealing effectively with discipline
problems when they arise are key to creating an effective workforce environment.
This program will help trainees learn how supervisors affect discipline in the
workplace, understand reasons why discipline problems occur and develop ways of
handling discipline problems once they arise.
